Frieze cornices come from the 17th century. Frieze style cornices are usually plain and have at least one shape which goes into the cornice. The flat part makes the cornice less noticeable on the wall. Small Place Frieze is much longer on the wall than on the ceiling, and the ceiling will seem higher. Cornices Centre Range.
